The Windproof Pile Fleece Jacket – My Go-To for Chilly Spring Days

I’ve been testing out the Windproof Pile Fleece Jacket from Polarn O. Pyret over the past few weeks, and it’s quickly become one of those pieces I just throw on without thinking.

It’s come with me on chilly spring walks over Easter, trips to the park, and quick runs to the shops - basically everyday life.

Quick Verdict

Best for: Busy parents and anyone who’s always out and about
Price: £80
Rating: 4.5/5

In a nutshell:
A really practical, easy-to-wear fleece that’s perfect for everyday use. It’s warm, comfortable and well thought out – the only real downside is the lighter colour if you’re around mud, dogs or toddlers.

First Impressions

Straight away it felt really good quality – soft and cosy but not overly bulky. It’s one of those fleeces that feels a bit more put together than your average throw-on layer.

The colour I went for is a light cream, which looks really nice and neutral, but I did wonder straight away how practical it would be.

Performance / How It Worked

It’s been perfect for those typical UK spring days where it looks mild but still feels chilly. It keeps the wind out really well, and I’ve found myself reaching for it pretty much every time I head out.

It’s warm without feeling too heavy, and easy to wear whether you’re just nipping out or out for longer walks.

Practicality

This is where it really works.

There are three pockets, including a zipped one which is ideal for keys – especially if you’re out on bigger walks and don’t want to worry about losing anything.

The sleeves are cuffed (elasticated), which I actually really like. I’m quite short and usually find sleeves too long, but these sit properly and help keep the wind out too.

Fit-wise, I’m usually a size 10 on top but tend to size up for a more relaxed fit. I went for a medium and it’s perfect – slightly oversized with enough room for layers underneath.

Is It Worth the Money?

At £80, it’s definitely an investment piece, especially if you’re already buying for the kids as well.

The only real drawback for me is the colour. The cream looks lovely, but it does show dirt easily – especially if you’ve got dogs that jump up or messy toddlers around. In hindsight, the green might have been a bit more practical for everyday wear.

That said, the quality is really good and it feels like something that will last, which does help justify the price.

Who It’s Best For

This product is ideal for:
Busy parents, dog walkers, and anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors

It may not suit:
Those wanting something low-maintenance or darker in colour for messy environments

Final Verdict

Overall, this is a really practical, well-made fleece that fits easily into everyday life. It’s comfortable, warm and easy to throw on, and I’ve found myself reaching for it constantly.

Just bear the colour in mind depending on your lifestyle – but aside from that, it’s a really solid option.
