Christmas often can feel overwhelming with so many gifts to buy, friends and family to see and the tree to decorate. I think my tick list just keeps getting bigger! Christmas Shopping at Rushden Lakes

Rushden Lakes has such a wide variety of shops you are sure to find everything for everyone here! Plus with free parking you can take your time shopping, grab a bite to eat or even send the less enthusiastic shoppers in your family to the cinema while you get Christmas ready!

Amongst the larger, more well known shops, there are some great locally owned shops to pop into.
Get some tasty treats for Christmas Day from Made In Northamptonshire, situated by the cinema. “Made In Northamptonshire was set up in 2011 to celebrate the county’s food and drink producers” I love this because not only are you getting something different but you are also supporting local businesses!
Mooch is also another locally owned shop. The stock here is great as there’s always something different that you wouldn’t find in a chain store. From Northampton Town FC gifts to jewellery, candles and night lights! You’ll be sure to find something here for that person that’s always ‘difficult to buy for’.

Festive Afternoon Tea at Kettering Hotel and Spa

After all the festive fun and running around buying gifts for everyone, you might just fancy a sit down and a cuppa. Well there’s no where better than Kettering Hotel and Spa’s festive afternoon tea. With a selection of sandwiches, festive treats, scones and tea. Available throughout December. A great spot for catching up with friends or family over the festive season!

Christmas Tree Picking at Welford Christmas Tree Farm

After coming here to pick our pumpkin back in October we knew we wanted to return for our Christmas tree. A great family owned farm with literally hundreds of Christmas trees!

Staff were on hand to help point you in the direction of the size and price of Christmas tree you were after, then you are able to wander round at your own leisure and pick your favourite.
There are plenty of trees waiting for you, chopped and ready to go but if none of them call out to you, you can go and pick your own from the fields and have one of the happy helpers cut it down for you!

They even have a Christmas shop in their huge tipi and a cafe in there as well where you can warm up and get some decorations! They are open until Christmas Eve so no matter how late you are in getting your decorations up you can always rely on them.
Booking required on weekends but not necessary on weekdays, take your wellies or sensible shoes, it can get muddy!

The Winter Light Trial At Delpre Abbey

This a beautiful evening out. Whether you go with little ones, friends, family or on a date, it really is a magical night out. With most evenings sold out before Christmas, this is a great one to visit in that period between Christmas Day and New Year as it still feels so festive without it being about Christmas Day.
Adults – £16.50
Children (15 and under) – £13.30

The Royal and Derngate Christmas Pantomime

Pantos are a must at Christmas, no matter your age! This year the Royal & Derngate are staging Dick Whittington. It looks hilarious and such a fun day out for the family. whatsgoodtodo.com says “undoubtably the best panto around…amazing!”
It runs till 2nd January 2022 with audio described, signed and captioned performances available.
