The return of The Granary Spa's Pamper Days

Having visited The Granary Spa a couple of years ago and had a blissfully relaxing experience, I was very excited when they invited me back to try out one of their newly-reinstated Pamper Days. A regular offering pre-pandemic, their Pamper Days (which include a robe and slippers, treatments and a light lunch) had sadly been put on hold for a few years, but are now back in full force, along with a beautifully redecorated lounge and reception area.

Tucked away down a picturesque country lane just outside of the village of Great Chart in Ashford, The Granary Spa is located in a converted Victorian barn, surrounded by rolling hills, rural vistas and the ambient sound of birdsong. It is a complete escape for the hustle and bustle of everyday life and an idyllic spot for a spa day.

Upon arrival, I was welcomed by the lovely team and taken upstairs to the relaxation lounge by manager Georgia who offered me a calming mug of tea to immediately get me in the mood for my day of restoration. Refurbished last Autumn, the lounge features soft velvet chairs in a beautiful teal shade with modern tables and vases of pampas. It feels refreshed without losing any of the rustic charm that the spa is known for, with complimentary hot drinks, books and magazines all available.

As part of my Pamper Day, I had two 25 minute treatments included. I had chosen a deep tissue massage followed by a custom blend facial which offered a good variety and all-round experience. First up was my massage which took place in one of the lovely, wood-panelled treatment rooms downstairs. I was also given a snuggly robe and slippers to add to the indulgence.

My therapist, Chelsea, spent time discussing my needs and any concerns with me before the treatment started. Being 6 months pregnant, the massage had to be adapted slightly, but this didn’t faze her at all. It felt really personalised and she put me straight at ease, with the massage itself providing the perfect combination of restorative and firm pressure.

After my treatment, I returned to the relaxation lounge where my beautifully-presented lunch platter was waiting for me. Displayed on a charming tiered stand, the sweet and savoury selection was made of up homemade sausage rolls, a cheese and pesto twist and a sundried tomato muffin, with a perfectly gooey triple chocolate brownie and lemon drizzle cake for dessert. It was absolutely delicious and so pleasant to enjoy surrounded by the country views and sunshine streaming through the window.

Feeling full and content, I then was invited for my second treatment: the custom blend facial. Again, Chelsea spent time discussing my skin type, current routine and any problem areas before tailoring the treatment to me. She used a combination of Evolve organic beauty products which left my skin feeling soft and glowy for days afterwards. She also incorporated a wonderful scalp massage which almost sent me to sleep!

After each treatment, I was given a detailed aftercare note with details of the products used, recommendations and advice for the following 24 hours which was a really nice touch. Time was also taken to allow me to ask any questions and check I was happy with everything. I was encouraged to spend as long as I wanted in the relaxation lounge and continue enjoying the complimentary drinks and surroundings before heading home. If I hadn’t had to pick my daughter up from pre-school, I could’ve happily stayed all day!

The team were so friendly and welcoming, with nothing seeming like too much trouble, and the setting is just idyllic. The updates to the spa work really well and make it feel sophisticated yet homely. I am looking forward to returning to try out their new manicure / pedicure area and rustic outdoor shepherds hut for treatments over the Summer!

A morning / afternoon pamper day of 2.5 hours is £122 and includes:
2 x 25 minute treatments
Robe and slippers
Complimentary refreshments
Sweet and savoury platter
Relaxation time in the lounge / courtyard

They also offer a full day package (5 hours) for £192 which includes an additional 55 minute treatment. Visit The Granary Spa website for more information.
