What you need to know about spending a weekend at Crowdy Hall North East

What I loved from the start was receiving a personal welcome email with a very detailed video. Owner Alisdair explained what we would need to bring with us and what would be provided during our weekend away at Crowdy Hall. He showed us how everything worked, how to access our key and where to get logs for the log burner and fire pit. I loved this personal touch and It made it really easy to settle in quickly with no time wasted trying to find out where things were or how everything worked.

Absolutely everything we needed for our stay had been carefully planned out and blended seamlessly into the environment, perfectly connecting the outside and inside. The large beds were raised from the floor ( To allow for clever hidden storage underneath) and had plenty of pillows and cushions providing a cosy place to relax or sleep. At the side of the bed were cleverly built-in shelves which provided USB charging stations and a place to put a drink. The huge window at the foot of the bed meant the cabins were flooded with light and also gave a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. They were the perfect place to stargaze and watch the sunset.

The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed during our stay. We had a two-ring hob, a whistling kettle, a sink and all the essential utensils and accessories. There was even olive oil, salt and pepper and tea bags – it was those little extras that made the trip a total winner for us.
The shower room had a wet room style shower with plenty of hot water whenever we used it. There was a composting toilet which was so easy and hassle free to use and a good size sink. Toiletries were provided which again added a touch of luxury to our weekend at Crowdy Hall North East.

All of the cabins have a decked area with a fire pit and we made fires both nights, toasted marshmallows and made smores. Plenty of seating was available and we had both reclining chairs as well a small table and chairs- perfect for an alfresco meal.

My highlight of our weekend at Crowdy Hall in Durham North East was waking up early, making a cup of tea with the whistling kettle and standing out on the deck looking across the fields with not a single sound.

It was great to slow life down. We spent our evenings playing Monopoly, reading and chatting. The evenings ended watching the sun go down before heading off to bed completely relaxed relaxed and ready for a perfect night’s sleep.

There’s plenty to do during a weekend at Crowdy Hall. We had a walk around the stunning estate one of the days, a gorgeous stroll through fields with grazing sheep. We returned to our cabin and relaxed on our deck enjoying lunch and reading – much needed after a very busy few weeks. On our second day we headed over to Wynyard Hall gardens and had a walk and some lunch in their restaurant. A stunning walled garden and riverside walk which has stunning blossom trees in spring as well as a huge daffodil display. The roses are out of this world in early summer and not to be missed. Also nearby is Hardwick Park which has a tranquil lake and wooded areas – stunning during the Autumn months.

Our weekend at Crowdy Hall North East was calming, peaceful and allowed quality time all in the most peaceful setting. I loved that Alasdair had given as much thought to the environment as he had to providing a wonderful experience for his guests.

We are planning a return – I noticed a cabin with an outdoor bath and I can’t wait to try it out.
