Manor House Spa Review: Cheshire’s Spa That Just Keeps Surprising You

Tucked away in the Cheshire countryside, the setting immediately felt peaceful, and as we arrived, it was easy to see why this spa has become such a popular destination.

Arrival & First Impressions
From the moment we stepped inside The Manor House Spa, the welcome was warm and relaxed. We were handed a tote bag containing our robe, slippers and a branded reusable water bottle before being given a map of the spa. Looking at it, I remember thinking, “This is much bigger than I expected.”
Walking through the spa for the first time only added to that excitement. Before we’d even reached the changing rooms, we were already spotting hidden relaxation spaces, pools and cosy corners tucked away throughout the spa. I had a feeling this was going to be one of those places where you never quite knew what was around the next corner.
Even the changing facilities impressed me. Spacious lockers, private cubicles, hairdryers and straighteners, plus plenty of thoughtful touches, made getting ready effortless. By the time we’d changed into our robes, my friend and I looked at each other and laughed because neither of us knew where to head first.
One of the things I loved most about Manor House Spa was the atmosphere. It felt luxurious without ever feeling intimidating. Whether you were visiting with friends, as a couple or simply enjoying some time to yourself, everyone seemed completely at ease.

Discovering the UK’s First Magnesium-Enriched Spa Pool
The first thing to catch my eye was the spa’s brand-new magnesium-enriched pool – the first of its kind in the UK. Warm, calming and surrounded by comfortable loungers, it immediately became somewhere I wanted to spend time.
Magnesium is known for its potential wellbeing benefits, helping to relax tired muscles and encourage a greater sense of calm, making it the perfect place to ease into the day.
Although it was the first pool I noticed when I arrived, it also became my final stop after my treatment later that afternoon. Floating in the warm water while taking in the peaceful surroundings felt like the perfect way to round off the experience, and it quickly became one of my favourite additions to the spa.

A Spa That Feels Like an Adventure
Before arriving at Manor House Spa, I’d imagined somewhere much smaller. Looking at the map hinted there was plenty to explore, but I still wasn’t prepared for just how much was tucked away behind each doorway.
This isn’t a spa where you walk in, understand the layout within ten minutes and settle on one lounger for the day. Instead, Manor House Spa unfolds as you explore it.
One minute we’d found a peaceful relaxation room, the next we were stepping out onto a terrace overlooking the Cheshire countryside. Around another corner was a bubbling hot tub, followed by a different sauna experience, another outdoor pool or a quiet nook where you could simply switch off.
It almost felt like wandering through a maze designed purely for relaxation. Rather than rushing to see everything, we found ourselves slowing down, taking our time and enjoying each new space we stumbled across.
For me, that’s what makes Manor House Spa stand out. It wasn’t just the facilities – it was the sense of discovery throughout the day.

A Spa with Boutique Beach Club Vibes
One thing I wasn’t expecting was the atmosphere outdoors.
The spa gardens have a real boutique beach club feel, complete with two swim-up bars, luxurious loungers and chilled music drifting through the air. On a warm summer’s day, it genuinely felt like we’d escaped abroad rather than being in the heart of Cheshire.
We spent most of our afternoon in the Secret Garden, which quickly became our favourite spot. It was peaceful yet sociable, with people quietly enjoying cocktails, reading books or simply soaking up the sunshine. It never felt loud or busy; instead, there was a relaxed energy that encouraged you to slow down and savour the moment.
By the middle of the afternoon, my friend and I were already asking ourselves the same question:
“When can we come back and stay overnight?”
Before we’d even left, we were discussing childcare arrangements so we could return, enjoy dinner at the hotel, make the most of the bars and wake up ready for another day in the spa. I can’t think of a much better compliment than that.

Lunch at The Pool House
As part of our Summer Spritz package, we enjoyed lunch at The Pool House, and it was the perfect pause between exploring the spa and heading off for our treatments.
We chose the mezze platter, which was beautifully presented and ideal for sharing. Fresh, colourful and packed with Mediterranean ‘picky bits’, it felt indulgent without being too heavy – exactly what you want in the middle of a spa day.
Our package also included a trio of spritzes each, with the option of alcoholic or alcohol-free drinks, including Aperol Spritz, a Hugo Spritz, alongside a refreshing citrus spritz that was perfect for such a warm day.
Relaxing with great food, refreshing drinks and views across the spa made us feel like we were on holiday.

My Vitamin C Glow Facial
After spending the morning exploring the spa, it was time for my treatment – a 60-minute Vitamin C Glow Facial – and it was exactly what I needed.
Before we began, my therapist, Marie, took the time to chat through my skin concerns and tailor the treatment to me. The consultation felt personal rather than rushed, and I immediately felt in safe hands.
One thing I particularly appreciated was that she explained she would leave me to enjoy the treatment in silence, allowing me to completely switch off. It’s such a simple touch, but it made a huge difference and meant I could fully relax without feeling the need to make conversation.
The treatment used Temple Spa skincare products, each with gorgeous scents that instantly made the room feel fresh and calming. Some of the products created a gentle tingling sensation, leaving my skin feeling refreshed and revitalised, while others were deeply nourishing and incredibly soothing.

While the face mask worked its magic, Marie treated me to a wonderfully relaxing shoulder, neck and scalp massage, transforming the facial into a full-body experience rather than simply a skincare treatment.
Afterwards, I spent some time in the relaxation room with a peppermint tea before heading back out into the spa. My skin looked brighter, felt beautifully hydrated and, more importantly, I felt completely refreshed.

A Spa I’d Love to Experience in Winter
Although I visited Manor House Spa on a glorious summer’s day, one thought kept coming back to me as we explored:
I’d love to come back in winter.
In the sunshine, it was easy to see why people spend hours drifting between the outdoor pools, relaxing on the loungers and making the most of the swim-up bars. It had such a laid-back holiday atmosphere that we almost forgot we were in Cheshire.
But the more we explored, the more I realised the spa would be just as special during the colder months.
The Secret Garden has a beautiful covered glasshouse with heaters, creating a cosy space to warm up between dips in the outdoor pools. I could easily imagine wrapping up in a fluffy robe with a hot drink before heading back into the steaming water on a crisp winter’s afternoon.
I think Manor House Spa is one of those rare places that changes with the seasons. In summer, it feels like a boutique beach club tucked away in the countryside. In winter, I imagine it transforms into a cosy retreat that’s just as magical.

Who Would Love Manor House Spa?
As we made our way around the spa, I kept thinking about all the people I’d love to bring back with me.
It would make a wonderful girls’ spa day, whether you’re celebrating a birthday, catching up with friends or simply treating yourselves to a day of relaxation. The atmosphere feels elegant without being overly formal, making it ideal for marking a special occasion. (It’s worth noting that the spa asks guests not to wear fancy dress or bring decorations, helping to maintain its calm atmosphere.)
I also couldn’t stop thinking how lovely it would be as a couples’ escape. Spending the day in the spa before enjoying dinner at the hotel and an overnight stay sounds like the perfect way to step away from everyday life.

Final Thoughts
What stayed with me most wasn’t one particular pool, treatment or meal – it was the feeling that Manor House Spa kept unfolding throughout the day.
From hidden saunas and peaceful seating areas overlooking the Cheshire countryside to the calming magnesium pool and the boutique beach club atmosphere, there always seemed to be another corner waiting to be explored.
It’s rare to leave somewhere already planning your next visit, but that’s exactly what happened. Some places impress you because they’re luxurious. Others stay with you because of how they make you feel. Manor House Spa somehow manages to do both. I left feeling lighter, calmer and already wondering when I could come back – and I think that’s the biggest recommendation I can give.
If you’re looking for a luxury spa escape that combines thoughtful design, exceptional treatments and a genuine sense of discovery, Manor House Hotel & Spa is one I’d happily recommend.
