London Heathrow Marriott Hotel, a smooth take-off for your holiday

There’s nothing like knowing you’ve swerved the pre-holiday panic of a delayed train, heavy traffic, and the early morning alarm. And if you get the right hotel then your holiday begins before you catch your flight, as soon as you check-in.
Staying at the Heathrow Marriott Hotel takes all the travel stress away. Just minutes from the airport terminals, it’s the perfect place to relax the night before your flight. With comfy rooms, great facilities, (including a pool!) and no need to rush in the morning, you’ll wake up refreshed, calm, and ready to get on your way.

What I loved about it
Their green initiatives! I know this seems a bit hypocritical, after all I was heading off on a plane the next day, I’m hardly saving the planet. But I figure every little helps and to see a huge chain like Marriott making strong sustainability commitments is fantastic.
The London Heathrow Marriott Hotel has a windmill (yes, there’s a windmill on the roof!) and solar panels to reduce CO2 emissions, a rooftop greenhouse for herbs & vegetables and the hotel has energy efficient lighting throughout. Couple this with the Marriott pledge to reduce their food waste by 50% by the end of 2025, and you can feel confident in your choice of hotel.
Sustainability Goals by 2025 (Marriott International targets)
• Reduce waste to landfill by 45 % (vs. 2016 baseline)
• Cut food waste by 50 % (target shared across UK properties)
• Reduce carbon intensity by 30 %
• Reduce water intensity by 15 %
• Achieve minimum 30 % renewable electricity usage globally

Tired travellers
Having travelled down from Leeds by train, connecting through London, and out to Heathrow airport we arrived a little bit tired, the day after my daughter’s graduation from university – not ideal timing for heading off on holiday, but that’s how the dates fell. From the terminal, it couldn’t have been easier to reach the hotel. The bus stop was right outside the airport, and our drop-off point was almost directly in front of the Marriott.
Within minutes of stepping inside the beautiful, airy reception, with its light-filled space and plenty of inviting, comfortable seating, we were checked in and heading to our rooms.
They didn’t disappoint. We had a huge bed, a cosy sofa, a practical space suitable for working, and a connecting room with two large double beds, which was perfect for our family of five.
M Club Lounge
Rooms at club and executive level as well as suites include complimentary M Club Lounge access where guests can enjoy a selection of snacks and refreshments. Food and drinks are available throughout the day, on an ‘all you care to enjoy’ basis. We tucked into a selection of small plates such as hummus and crudités, spicy chicken and potatoes, breadcrumbed fish and even some delicious bite-size desserts alongside self-serve hot and cold drinks. For us it was the perfect way to refuel before retreating for an early night.
Guests looking for something more substantial can head to Carluccio’s, on the ground floor next to the lobby, and sit down to a relaxed meal. A proper start to the holiday with a glass of wine and some delicious food.

Back in our room, the beds were exceptionally comfortable & the window were soundproofed, just what we needed after a long day of travel. We slept soundly and woke refreshed, ready for the next leg of our journey.
Check-out at the 24-hour reception was quick and easy, and it was just 10 minutes by taxi (or via the private WeKnow London transfer that can be arranged by the hotel) and we were back at the airport, relaxed and ready to go!
The Marriott Hotel Heathrow proved to be the perfect pre-flight stopover: convenient, comfortable, and a little bit indulgent. We began our holiday feeling well-rested – exactly how travel should be.
As usual all opinions are her own.
