The Townhouse, Manchester – Unmistakable city-break buzz

If you’re in town for meetings, a girls’ getaway filled with cocktails and shopping, or a family weekend exploring the city, it’s one of those brilliantly versatile hotels that simply works. And when you’re planning a Manchester escape, that ease makes all the difference.
One thing that really stood out is how versatile the hotel is. The Townhouse can accommodate large groups, families, couples, or solo travellers, with a variety of room layouts available.
I was visiting for a catch up with my friend who was in town for the day from Liverpool. We stayed in a room featuring two king-sized beds, with a connecting door leading into the room opposite, perfect for bigger groups who want shared space while still having their own privacy. It’s such a clever setup for birthdays, hen weekends, or friend getaways.
The room itself was spacious, spotless, and fully equipped with all the essentials you’d need for a comfortable stay. The beds were extremely comfortable (the kind you secretly wish you could take home), and the bathroom was equally impressive, with plenty of space and both a separate bath and shower which is always a win after a long day exploring the city.
Before heading out to experience Manchester’s nightlife, we enjoyed a beautiful and very filling two-course meal at the hotel using their dinner offer — two courses and a drink for £29.90.

The menu had lots of variety! I started with the chicken liver pâté whilst my friend had the salmon with capers, both full of flavour and beautifully presented. For mains, we leaned into comfort food classics and ordered fish and chips alongside a steak and ale pie, both hearty, delicious, and exactly what you want before a night out. Everything arrived piping hot, and we paired it with a glass of wine while soaking up the relaxed atmosphere.
The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and made us feel welcome from start to finish, the kind of hospitality that really elevates a stay.

One of the biggest highlights is the location. After dinner, it was so easy to step straight out into the city. We headed for a boogie along Canal Street after cocktails in the Northern Quarter, and being so centrally located meant everything was within walking distance.
With Chinatown right next door, Oxford Road nearby, and Canal Street just moments away, plus only around a ten-minute walk into the Northern Quarter.

If you’re someone who loves a slow hotel morning (same), breakfast is served daily from 8am–10am, making it easy to fuel up before a day of shopping, sightseeing, or travelling home.
The hotel also offers a range of packages through their website, including bed-and-breakfast stays, theatre packages from £99, and family deals where kids can enjoy breakfast for free — making it a great option for different budgets and occasions!
Whether you’re on a business trip, celebrating a birthday, planning a weekend getaway, or simply looking for somewhere cosy and convenient to rest your head, I genuinely couldn’t recommend The Townhouse, Manchester enough.
It’s stylish without being intimidating, central without feeling hectic, and comfortable in a way that makes you instantly settle in — basically everything you want from a city stay.
