RSVP: Sussex’s New Immersive Experience Is in a League of Its Own

RSVP, the latest creation from Ezra Immersive, is a fully immersive dark comedy horror experience where you become one of the guests at Tommy Crimble's 10th birthday party. From the moment you arrive, you're plunged into a wonderfully awkward world of party games, unexpected encounters and increasingly bizarre happenings, where nothing is quite as it seems.
I’ve experienced plenty of Sussex’s haunted attractions over the years, but RSVP is in a league and category of its own. It’s not quite traditional immersive theatre, it’s not an escape room and it’s certainly not a maze. In fact, it feels like an entirely new genre of entertainment, blending live performance, interactive storytelling and clever technology into something wonderfully unexpected.
Set in a village hall, there’s something distinctly odd about the whole thing. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like you’ve accidentally gatecrashed a children’s birthday party where you don’t know anyone, and you’re not entirely sure you’re welcome.
What initially appears to be a rather ordinary, slightly naff children’s birthday party soon becomes something extraordinary. You’re deliberately left wondering why you’re there, what’s going on and what on earth you’ve signed up for.
There’s so much I want to tell you about this bonkers experience, but I simply can’t without spoiling the surprises.
And that’s about as much as I’m giving away!
What I loved about it
Absolutely everything! RSVP is unpredictable, incredibly clever and, above all, so much fun.
What makes this experience so special is the attention to detail. The storyline has clearly been thoughtfully developed, with every element carefully considered. The set is meticulously crafted yet wonderfully unassuming, creating the atmosphere of a slightly peculiar children’s birthday party before gradually bringing the whole experience to life in ways you simply won’t see coming.
One of the cleverest aspects is how RSVP plays on the natural awkwardness of being somewhere you don’t quite belong. From the moment you step inside, you’re thrown into unfamiliar situations, encouraged to play games with strangers and left questioning what’s happening around you. It’s deliberately uncomfortable at times, but that’s all part of the magic.
There were moments when I was crying with laughter, moments when I felt completely out of my comfort zone and others when I became so absorbed in the story that I genuinely felt part of it.

The actors are phenomenal. Their performances are convincing, timed to perfection and central to making the entire experience work. They have an incredible ability to draw you into their world without ever making it feel like you’re watching a traditional theatre production.
The technology is equally impressive, seamlessly integrated into the experience rather than feeling like a gimmick. It’s innovative, surprising and incredibly effective. What also struck me was the exceptionally high production quality. For a first-year experience, the standard is remarkable, from the acting and set design to the creativity behind the plot and the way everything comes together.
It’s clear that an enormous amount of imagination, passion and thought has gone into creating RSVP. And the best bit? You genuinely have no idea what’s coming next.

Suitable for:
Anyone looking for something completely different from the usual night out!
RSVP is perfect for groups of friends, couples, theatre lovers and anyone who enjoys unusual experiences, clever storytelling and a good laugh.
The age guidance is 16+, with anyone aged 16–17 accompanied by an adult aged 18+, so it’s definitely not one for younger children. Although there are moments designed to make you feel uneasy, this isn’t your typical scary attraction. It’s much more about anticipation, atmosphere, surprise and the awkward situations you find yourself in.
And if the thought of audience participation fills you with dread, don’t worry. One of the thoughtful touches is the option to wear a badge indicating that you’d prefer not to interact directly. You can still enjoy the experience without feeling pressured to interact.
That’s another thing I loved: unlike some immersive theatre productions, you don’t have to become an actor yourself. You can simply get swept up in the story and enjoy the madness unfolding around you.

Value for money (out of 10) – 8/10
8/10 – An exceptionally creative, high-quality experience that’s worth every penny. You pay for the outstanding cast and impressive technology to the carefully crafted storyline and imaginative production, RSVP delivers something genuinely different. Tickets cost £35.95 (including the £1 booking fee) but there was an early bird which I would definitely take advantage of next year.
It’s rare to come away from an attraction feeling you’ve experienced something entirely new, but that’s exactly how I felt. For its debut year, RSVP has set the bar incredibly high. It’s groundbreaking, innovative, brilliantly entertaining and unlike anything else I’ve experienced in Sussex.
I think Ezra Immersive has created something genuinely special and innovative here, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves and where they take it next. My advice? Go in knowing as little as possible, embrace the awkwardness and prepare to be surprised.
Watch this space, as there are two brand-new original events in the pipeline, including a Christmas experience, as well as the potential return of RSVP next year! All events will be part of an interconnected universe, with future adventures branching beyond horror into family-friendly entertainment.
