Review: Hotel ACTIVE by Leitner’s in Kaprun in Austria

I loved how much Hotel ACTIVE by Leitner’s created an atmosphere that encouraged you to get out and be active in the amazing Austrian Alps, whilst being comfortable, calming and welcoming to relax in after your day.

ACTIVE by Leitner’s is perfectly located for your summer mountains and lakes adventures in Austria. It is in the small town of Kaprun which is only five minutes from the gondola that takes you up to the Top of Salzberg, the Kitzsteinhörn moutain, and is a 15-minute drive or bus ride from Zell am See, which has lots of restaurants, cafés and the lake, Zeller (See is lake in German).
You could easily spend your whole trip relaxing at Active by Leitner’s, using their spa facilities and indulging in their fantastic breakfast and dinner, but you’re perfectly situated to get out and get active! The rooms are simple, but fully equipped to make your stay a comfortable one. You can stay in one of their 45 double rooms, five suites or two penthouses. Plenty of choice for whatever your group size.
Each room or suite at ACTIVE by Leitner’s has a small veranda or balcony where you get stunning views of your surrounding hills and mountains. Austria is so well known for its skiing but in the summer there’s nothing better than relaxing in your hammock – yes, a hammock! – on the balcony, on a warm summer’s day, relaxing and recuperating after whatever adventures you’ve been on that day.
I’m not saying that I need to have a spa where I’m staying, but… It helps right? The spa at ACTIVE by Leitner’s is exceptional for relaxing in, whilst balancing the need for somewhere for families to relax too. Also, no phones allowed for a social detox!
Outside there is a pool, with mountain views, and a space to play lawn games and relax on loungers in the shade. Inside is a different feel altogether. The relaxing space is spread over two floors with active recover steam rooms and saunas, day beds and treatment rooms for you to book and enjoy. The whole experience in the spa at ACTIVE by Leitner’s is the perfect way to end your adventurous days in Zell am See Kaprun.
We stayed at ACTIVE by Leitner’s on half-board so we got to try their incredible breakfast buffet and dinner selection. The breakfast was a buffet style occasion, put on from 7.30am, for those who want to get out in the morning sunshine, and dinner was just next door to the hotel in their restaurant where you got three courses of amazing food served by a really friendly and accomodating team.All the food we ate was delicious and there was something for everyone, evena fussy vegetarian like me! Personal highlight were the sweet pastries and cakes for breakfast at ACTIVE by Leitner’s, lush!
The whole experience at ACTIVE by Leitner’s was outstanding, with friendly and chatty staff who gave fantastic local recommendations, as well as cocktail recommendations. You can book your experiences through ACTIVE by Leitner’s or go your own way, it’s perfect for both. We booked our mountain yoga and ranger tour through them, which were both amazing and you should check out the blog post I’ve written about that.
Reading this back I feel inspired to go back to ACTIVE by Leitner’s and get out in to the mountains. The ideal summer getaway in the Austrian Alps.
