Not respecting local customs
Thailand is a Buddhist country with strict customs and traditions. Visitors often make the mistake of not removing their shoes when entering temples or homes, or not dressing modestly when visiting sacred sites.
If you want to ensure you are welcome everywhere be sure to look to see if there are shoes lying outside and if in doubt ask before entering where you need to remove shoes or sometimes you have to wear a scarf in our more sacred temples.
Underestimating the heat
Thailand’s tropical climate can be unforgivingly HOT!!!, and many tourists underestimate the heat and humidity. This can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and sunburn.

It’s really important for tourists to essential to stay hydrated which can be unusual for them as they feel like they are drinking water all the time but it helps them stay well in the end. Also wear sunscreen, and take breaks in shaded areas.
Not bargaining when shopping
Haggling is a way of life in Thai markets. Visitors who don’t bargain may end up paying too much for goods and souvenirs. It’s essential to research prices, be respectful, and have fun negotiating.
Many shops sell similar items so it can be ok to try a negotiation and walk away. You can get a feel for the price that way and either go back to the same shop later or try another that sells similar products. This works for local products, but not iPhones!

Not being cautious with street food
While Thai street food is delicious, it can also be a source of food poisoning if not handled properly. Visitors should choose stalls that are busy and have a high turnover of food, and make sure their food is cooked thoroughly.
A simple rule for tourists, if there is no queue then probably it’s not good for your stomach. For locals it can be ok and they are used to this type of food.
Not having the right vaccinations or medications
Thailand is a tropical country with diseases like dengue fever, Zika virus, and malaria. Visitors should consult their doctor or a travel clinic before traveling to ensure they have the necessary vaccinations and medications.
It’s quite common to be bitten by mosquitoes but in Thailand this can be very dangerous if you are not vaccinated correctly.
