Right now, thanks to several factors, going on fishing trips is rather popular. Even people who’re new to angling are eyeing up some of the best spots in the country, like the Norfolk coast. So, why has this trend come about, and why is Norfolk such a good spot to cast a line from?
Entertainment is Putting Some Sizzle into the Reels
Many travel trends are spurred on by entertainment hits, and in a couple of arenas right now, fishing is flying high. Running from some of the entertainment pieces that have spurred on this fishing trip trend, let’s see where Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse went to cast a line. In the first season, they went to the Norfolk Lakes for tench in the series premiere, and then on to the River Wensum for roach.
The third season saw the duo return to the Norfolk Lakes, this time Broadland specifically, to try to catch the notorious pike. The following year, it was onto the Norfolk Broads for rudd, bream, ruffe, and rudd-bream. Finally, the seventh season came back for tench, this time at Rocklands Mere, and the bass and sea trout off of Blakeney Point.
To combine this with the other hit fishing entertainment piece of the moment, Big Bass Bonanza, a recommendation has to go to Wells-Next-the-Sea. Boasting some of the most idyllic sandy beaches in the UK, anglers come from far and wide to cast into the ocean from the beach or hire some professionals to help.
Norfolk Sea Fishing Trips has been running anglers out to sea for decades. In the prime season, they’ll ship you out to catch mackerel, bass, and tope, with bass often being the most coveted of the potential catches. That said, taking on tope – a small type of shark – is certainly a unique experience. Better still, Wells is loaded with cottages, inns, and even resorts to base your trips and stay around.
Fishing trips are trending right now, and when advertised as a few days away in beautiful scenery with the chance of reeling in a big fish, it’s tough to argue against the appeal.
