Trees at Tughall – A perfectly tranquil escape
As we entered our cabin, dappled sunlight filled the space, immediately creating a warm haven for us to rest and recharge.
There are three cabins nestled amongst the trees, all carefully placed to ensure maximum privacy from other guests, we didn’t see a soul during our entire stay. Sharing similar designs but also having their own special qualities, whichever home you choose for your stay, you will adore and simply not want to leave.
Willow offers its own private access to the Tughall Burn while Hawthorn surprises guests with glorious sunsets and views of the cheviots rising in the distance. Ash, our home, was surrounded by the sounds of leaves rustling in the cool afternoon breeze and to our delight, a wooden tree swing to while away a minute or two, or three or more.
Long coastal walks
Trees at Tughall promise “everything you need and nothing you don’t”. Not easy to achieve in such a small area but the minimalist space was carefully thought out providing cleverly hidden storage to house belongings and relieve any clutter.
I fell in love with the window seats every afternoon after long coastal walks and the freshest of Northumberland air. Sitting, reading a book while watching the grasses dance in the breeze was nothing short of mesmerising. The perfect nervous system reset.

We were blessed with warm, sunny weather and the natural sunlight heated the cabins perfectly but if the sea breezes do become cool, the log burner, stocked and ready to light is perfectly positioned to warm you though on even the chilliest of days.
Falling into bed was a dream, a large enough for two double, with stunning window views to gaze out upon while falling asleep and watching the sun rise in the morning as you wake.
This beautiful space flowed gently into a luxurious ensuite. Stunningly presented with a powerful double shower, sink and luxurious toiletries alongside the fluffiest of towels.
Perfect location
The surrounding Northumberland villages offer an incredible selection of high-quality places to eat, perfect for dinner by the sea. But if you are yearning for down time and a night away from it all, the kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob, fridge and my favourite thing of all – a whistling kettle. There’s everything you need to cook up a storm.
Evenings were spent outside, around the fire pit watching the flames dance and toasting marshmallows while we mulled over the highlights of our day and planned our next adventure.
Trees at Tughall is perfectly situated to adventure around the vastness and beauty of the Northumberland coastline. From Bamburgh to Newton- By- The Sea, Craster to Dunstanburgh, you can experience it all within a short, scenic drive.
A base from which adventure, exploring or simply quiet wandering is all a possibility.
We felt cut off, like we’d escaped the world, yet everything was within reach.
Just what we wanted, needed, craved.
