My favourite Indian restaurant in Basingstoke

Spicy Tadka has long been my preferred Indian restaurant in Basingstoke; for both takeaway and dining in. When owner Gagan asked if I’d like to visit for a review I was pleased to dine in once more. The decor has been updated since my last visit and I particularly like the sections of living wall where the logo has been cleverly recreated with moss and plants. Though the space isn’t huge, there is enough room between tables and it feels relaxed and cosy.
Gagan prides himself on owning the most authentic Indian restaurant in Basingstoke, with the majority of the menu hailing from Northern India. The main reason I love the menu is because of the many paneer dishes. Paneer is an Indian cheese and is really delicious when marinated in tikka and served in a creamy tomato sauce. I thoroughly recommend trying something new when you visit and Gagan would be happy to help you choose.
There are also lots of what I’d call classic British curries on the menu too, as well as fusion dishes such as my husband’s favourite chicken fried rice. The food was all served hot and well-presented.
I would like to point out that the toilets are down some stairs, however the staff will liaise with the shopping centre team to provide access to the nearby accessible toilets should any guest require them.

One of the highlights of Spicy Tadka is the weekend buffet, a popular choice with families. I’ve visited many times to try new dishes which I wouldn’t normally choose from the menu. It’s a great way to widen your tastes and find a new favourite! There are starters, curries, rices and bread to choose from as well as a dessert option.
As we chatted with Gagan we found out about his plans to extend to mid-week lunches too. This lunch menu will be an Indian twist on some classic burgers and sandwiches so watch this space!
We had a fantastic meal here and will continue to choose it for takeaways. I would recommend ordering direct with Spicy Tadka rather than through third party delivery companies because the menu is cheaper (yay!) and they use their own drivers who can deliver the food much faster.
Thank you very much to Spicy Tadka, we will see you soon!

REVIEW

This is a Girl About review. I was invited by the management free of charge in exchange for an honest and frank review. All my opinions are my own and in no way have they been swayed by their kind invite. Girl About reviews are always 100% honest. We only publish reviews that, for the most part, are positive.
