For years, Spain and Portugal have been the obvious choices for British golfers searching for winter sunshine. But Cyprus could be about to give the old favourites some serious competition.

With mild winter temperatures, plenty of sunshine, a growing collection of championship courses and an increasingly impressive luxury hotel scene, the Mediterranean island has all the ingredients for a winter golf escape.
