The Glasshouse Glows with a New Neighbourhood Vibe

3 images of the interior of a restaurant with foliage and striped seating the Glasshouse wynyard hall
As the sun set over the Wynyard Estate on a crisp autumn evening, we wandered down to The Glasshouse, its golden glow beckoning from the kitchen garden.

Nestled among the greenery on the grounds of Wynyard Hall, this much-loved spot has a fresh new feel, and it’s one we can’t get enough of.

The Vibe

Inside, we were met with friendly faces, the gentle hum of conversation, and soft music that set the perfect tone. The space itself is effortlessly inviting, all glass, greenery and warming wood. There’s something rather magical about dining among ferns and foliage, especially when the atmosphere feels this relaxed.

The Glasshouse has taken on a new neighbourhood-style charm, a place that invites you to settle in, unwind, and share good food with great company. Whether you’re catching up with friends over cocktails, bringing the family for weekend pizza, or stopping by after a long week, this is a restaurant that makes you feel right at home.

The staff were attentive and friendly, ready to help with a smile yet never imposing.  The food was served at just the right pace, enough time between courses to sit back, digest and chat before beginning the next.

The Menu

The menu is a joyful celebration of flavour and freshness, championing produce straight from the estate’s very own kitchen garden. Think wood-fired pizzas, vibrant sharing boards, and seasonal small plates that burst with colour and taste.  A menu that offers something for all, young and old alike.

Our evening began with a heavenly burrata and roast fig starter, the perfect autumn delicacy. We also sampled the whipped feta with roasted tomatoes with a crisp cracker on the side, the kind of dishes that make you stop mid-conversation to say, “you have to try this.”  and let me tell you, I tried every single dish – too delicious not to…….

For mains, the Lamb Ragu with nduja, ricotta and pappardelle was pure comfort. Rich, hearty, and utterly satisfying.  For him, the burger, carefully stacked, flavoured just right and accompanied with fries, went down a treat.

And just when we thought we couldn’t manage another bite, dessert arrived; red wine–poached pears for him and the most irresistible sticky toffee pudding with rum and raisin ice cream for me. Each mouthful was a little taste of autumn comfort, and I’d recommend, enjoyed alongside one of The Glasshouse’s beautifully crafted cocktails. (The non-alcoholic G&T deserves a special mention; it’s one of the best we’ve had.)

As the nights draw in and the temperatures drop, The Glasshouse feels like the perfect local escape, where great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and good company come together effortlessly.

A place that brings people together over good food, great drinks, and a whole lot of heart.  So, if you’re looking for that perfect blend of warmth, flavour and friendliness, step into The Glasshouse.

It’s glowing, it’s welcoming, and it’s waiting just for you.
