Paddle New York’s newest water trail

Visitors can plan their next outdoor adventure along the New York Susquehanna Basin Water Trail, a new haven for paddlers stretching from Cooperstown, at the southern tip of Otsego Lake, to the city of Corning.

Spanning 190 miles of south-central New York State across the Susquehanna and Chemung rivers, this trail winds through stunning landscapes of rolling hills, rugged cliffs, and charming river towns.

Perfect for fishing as well as paddling, the trail can easily be combined with iconic attractions like the National Baseball Hall of Fame or the Corning Museum of Glass. Scheduled to launch in May 2025, the conceptual trail debuts alongside the renowned General Clinton Canoe Regatta, a 70-mile canoe race down the Susquehanna River that draws thousands of paddlers each year.

200th anniversary of the Erie Canal

This landmark anniversary will be celebrated with Cruises, Cycling Routes and a Major Bicentennial Voyage Across New York State!

The Erie Canal was the first navigable waterway connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes and had a HUGE impact on America’s development and way of life in the 19th century.

It runs from the Hudson River to Lake Erie and accelerated the westward expansion of the US. To mark the anniversary in 2025, cities, towns and villages throughout the Canal corridor will be celebrating their Erie Canal Heritage with major events, special programmes and tours.

Cruises are available along the New York State Canal System with tours within an hour's drive of every major city on the Canalway Corridor. Multi-day holidays can be taken with kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards or self-skippered canal boats.

For another way to experience the Canal, visitors can cycle The Erie Canalway Trail with multiday itineraries such as the ‘100 must see miles’, which closely parallels both active and historic sections of the Erie Canal.

Mt. Van Hoevenberg is a beacon of Olympic heritage and winter sports, providing guests the opportunity to explore where the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics took place.

This season, it will add a dynamic layer to its offerings by hosting a major ‘two in one’ international event; the IBSF Bobsled & Skeleton World Championships, held from 6-9 March and 15-16 March respectively.

With unmatched snowmaking capabilities and state-of-the-art fibre infrastructure, this Nordic centre will be primed for global broadcast, showcasing the venue’s world-class appeal and commitment to excellence.

Hotel Brookmere

If all this sounds a bit too strenuous, and you'd prefer something a little more chill, how about making the most of the mineral waters at Saratoga Springs at the latest new hotel?

Hotel Brookmere opened in late December just minutes from downtown Saratoga Springs. This modern luxury hotel features 88 contemporary guest rooms and suites designed with natural woods and stone to reflect the area’s natural surroundings.

The Arbor Spa, open to the public, pays homage to Saratoga Springs’ heritage of healing - Saratoga’s mineral waters have made the area a popular resort destination for more than 200 years - with each treatment room designed to reflect the changing seasons. In addition, the hotel offers French-inspired cuisine complemented by artisanal cocktails at its 110-seat Regent Restaurant and Bar.
