What’s the Story Jackanory?

Well, there are quite a few to be told, if you visit the inspiring Story Museum – a one-off building, divided by tiers telling many tales old and new.

Giant Beds

On a cold March morning, I marched my two little ones to the famous museum to ignite their imaginations.

We first listened to a fairy tale on a giant bed, told by an animated storyteller with puppets. This was in a room made just for under-fives with toy kitchens, a large play bus and a fairy hole to crawl through.

Enchanted Wood

After this we then walked through an enchanted woodland, where trees talked and animated story tellers recounted ancient legends, to a captivated crowd of children and adults alike.

Comic Heaven

We then entered a world and history of comics, learning how to draw our very own from the masters.

Through the looking glass

We next entered an author-inspired walk through, about different story tellers through the ages, with interactive exhibits and vintage story books.

My little ones finished their visit with a yummy baguette and a millionaire’s slice in the café, feeling like they were now keepers of a million new stories.
