The Best Cheshire Halloween Events for Families This October

But with so much going on (and budgets to think about), it’s worth knowing which ones are actually worth the trip. From magical light trails to pumpkin-packed adventures, I’ve rounded up some of the best Halloween days out for families in and around Cheshire - tried, tested, and totally loved.

Halloweenville, Partridge Lakes
Tucked away near Culcheth in Warrington, Halloweenville has quickly become one of Cheshire’s most talked-about family Halloween events, and it’s easy to see why. This isn’t just any light trail; it’s a full-on adventure. Children are swept up in a magical story, collecting coins from quirky characters along the route. Gather them all, and they’ll unlock a special surprise – freeing a character and joining the celebration in the Pirate’s Den at the end.
Our kids absolutely loved it and now count down the days each year until it returns. There’s live music, marshmallow toasting under the cosy tipi, and a roaring fireplace that makes it the perfect way to warm up before (or after) the trail. It’s honestly a must-do – just be quick, because tickets sell out fast!

This year was our first visit to Magical Woodland at Blakemere, and honestly, where have we been all this time? This Halloween light trail completely lives up to its name. Wandering through the woods, we found ourselves surrounded by glowing displays, gentle spooky themes, and plenty of surprises along the way. I was amazed at how long the trail was and how much there was to see – it felt like it went on forever (in the best possible way).
I’d say this one’s perfect for younger children too, as it’s more enchanting than scary. The friendly characters who guide you through the woodland really make it interactive and fun for little ones. And then there’s the food and drink area at the end – a proper treat. We could’ve happily stayed for hours sampling everything. The highlight for us? Meeting Lady Blakemere herself – she shared snippets of history, kept the kids giggling, and was absolutely brilliant.
If you’re looking for a family Halloween event in Cheshire that’s full of atmosphere and magic, this one should be high on your list.

Skellies and Wellies, Tatton Park, Knutsford
Skellies and Wellies is one of our all-time favourite Halloween traditions – we look forward to it every year. Set within the magnificent Tatton Park in Knutsford, this trail is the perfect mix of adventure, nature, and a little spooky fun. With the National Trust gardens, mansion, adventure playground, and working farm all on site, there’s plenty to fill a whole day here.
The trail itself is a family-friendly daytime adventure, where the kids can dress up and explore the stunning National Trust gardens in search of hidden skeletons. It’s included in your National Trust membership, and honestly, we always have such a laugh doing it. If you’re lucky enough to visit on one of those crisp, golden autumn days in Cheshire, the gardens are breathtaking – wandering through them is my favourite part.
If you’re not a National Trust member, it’s worth checking out the Totally Tatton tickets on their website, which give you access to the wider park. There’s even a pumpkin patch to top off your visit.
And if you’re planning a bit of a Halloween trail tour, it’s worth looking at other family Halloween events in Cheshire hosted by the National Trust too – we’ve loved Speke Hall, Dunham Massey, and Quarry Bank Mill for their spooky autumn fun.

Halloween at BeWILDerwood, Whitchurch
BeWILDerwood is one of Cheshire’s true gems for outdoorsy family fun – think huge slides, towering treehouses, magical mazes, and whimsical storytelling sessions, all tucked away in the enchanting Whitchurch woods. Now imagine all that, but with a Halloween twist!
This October, the park transforms into a glowing wonderland as the Glowing Light Trail lights up the forest. Dress the kids up (and yourselves!) and join the twilight trail after a full day of climbing, zip-lining, and exploring among the trees. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and autumn magic, and one we can’t recommend enough.
If you’re planning a family Halloween in Cheshire that’s full of imagination and fresh air, BeWILDerwood is a must-visit.

Pumpkin Picking at Kenyon Hall Farm, Croft
A trip to Kenyon Hall Farm during October half-term is an absolute must. It’s one of those traditions every Cheshire family should experience – and if you haven’t yet, this is your sign! Spend the day picking your own pumpkins, sipping a pumpkin spice latte in the cosy café, and wandering through the charming farm shop filled with local goodies.
There are photo points dotted around for those all-important autumn snaps, and the outdoor play area keeps little ones entertained for hours. It’s such a simple but joyful day out – the perfect way to celebrate family Halloween in Cheshire without too many frights, just plenty of wholesome fun.

Halloween at Chester Zoo, Chester
Chester Zoo is always a family favourite, but during October it becomes even more magical with its Halloween at the Zoo celebrations. Included in your usual zoo admission, the whole place transforms into a spooktacular adventure filled with giant pumpkins, eerie decorations, and plenty of seasonal fun for all ages.
For more inspiration see our Halloween section!
Little explorers can follow themed trails through the zoo, meet some of the “spookier” animals up close, and listen to campfire stories that bring the magic of Halloween to life. The team always goes all out with creative displays – expect glowing lanterns and plenty of photo-worthy moments around every corner.

Whether you’re after pumpkin patches, light trails, or a full day of adventure, there’s no shortage of family Halloween fun in Cheshire this October. From the twinkling lights of Halloweenville to the magic of BeWILDerwood and the pumpkin fields of Kenyon Hall Farm, there’s something to delight kids (and grown-ups) of all ages.
One of the things I love most about this time of year is how Cheshire comes alive with colour and creativity – every event has its own charm, from grand estates to woodland walks. So, wrap up warm, grab your wellies, and make some memories this spooky season.
