I tried Chipolo LOOP and Card – here’s what I thought

Got to admit, I did think one tracker would be pretty much the same as the next, but the Chipolo has a really handy feature that makes it super-useful.

My Mum always said I’d lose my head if it wasn’t screwed on, so I’m kinda perfect to road test a tracker tag. I knew it wouldn’t be long before it was called upon to help out!

In a nutshell:

Best for: People who ‘misplace’ things regularly & experience that sinking feeling, followed by blind panic… (AKA me!)

Price: Start at £39

The LOOP is a keyring style rechargeable tracker that you attach to keys, bags or anything else that you want to keep track of.  The Card is, as you’d expect, credit card sized and great for popping in your purse or wallet, or the pocket of a bag.

The trackers work with either Apple Find My or Find Hub on Android, and it comes with additional finding features in the free Chipolo companion app.

First Impressions

I have to give a shout out to the packaging, it was great design and good quality. Very stylish. It took me less than 15 minutes to download the app and add the card & the LOOP.

When I was looking at the website I was impressed to see that they are one of only a handful of consumer electronics products that are not made in China. All their products are made locally to the company, in Europe.

The LOOP comes with a hole to attach keys, the cover is integrated so you don’t need to buy one separately. There are some great colours for the LOOP tag.

Using the LOOP and card

Day 4 of the road test and the tracker saved me from huge anxiety – I‘d been to the post office to drop off a parcel, then headed off to the hairdresser. I thought that my purse was in my bag but when I got to the hairdressers it wasn’t there. Then I had the awful thought that my purse could have been on my knee when I got out of the car & it could have fallen on the floor without me realising. It wouldn’t be the first time.

Then I remembered that the Chipolo card was in my purse! It took a couple of seconds to open the app, and I could check the location of my purse.

It was at home, phew.

Didn’t help me pay the hairdresser, but at least I knew where it was!  Also, I think if this was in the pocket of a bag that was stolen, it’s not obvious for thieves to see and remove.

The other massive plus to the Chipolo products is that you can ‘call’ your phone app from the device (connection required).  So if you ‘misplace’, your phone but you have the card or the LOOP, just press and hold the tag, or the corner of the card, and your phone beeps!

You can also use them as a shutter switch for your phone camera, which is handy.

The Chipolo LOOP is easy to charge with a USB-C, the card requires a wireless charger I haven’t had to recharge either yet, one charge lasts quite a while.

Is It Worth the Money?

I think the Chipolo products are great quality, and the ability to track items both ways is brilliant. I would (& probably will) buy this myself.  I could do with another one for my son’s keys and one for the campervan – I’ve lost count of how many times we lose the keys on a camp site!

Overall, both products are well-designed and a practical option if you’re looking to track keys, your wallet or purse etc. The quality, ease of use and both way tracking feature makes it a worthwhile buy.

For design, ease of use, quality and value I am giving them 10 out of 10, can’t fault them.
