Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort – Huge news for thrill seekers!
So when our friends at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort told us that they’re adding a huge £8.72M Gyro Swing to their lineup in 2026 – the biggest of its kind in the UK – we were very excited!
This adrenaline-pumping pendulum ride will swing daring riders a staggering 138 feet into the air, tilting at 120 degrees, all while spinning with their legs dangling the entire time!
Designed to create the ultimate flying sensation, this ride promises to be an absolute must for thrill-seekers.
While pendulum rides already exist in the UK, nothing comes close to this one in terms of sheer size. For comparison, Drayton Manor’s Maelstrom maxes out at around 74 feet – making Blackpool’s version almost double the height.
The park teased the arrival of something big when a digital van turned up at Thorpe Park’s Hyperia launch, cheekily stating, "We’ll just have to come up with something else then, won’t we?" And now, we know exactly what they meant!
Construction is already underway, with groundwork starting earlier this year following the demolition of the former Bowl-A-Drome building. The ride will be located towards the northern perimeter of the park, meaning that as you swing to dizzying heights, it’ll feel as though you’re soaring right over the sea.
CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, Amanda Thompson OBE, said: “We’re thrilled to confirm the addition of a Gyro Swing at Pleasure Beach Resort, with work already underway. We’re well known for doing things on a large scale, so becoming home to the largest Gyro Swing in the UK made complete sense.
“The Gyro Swing is one of the most exciting flat rides in existence – it’s dynamic, fast, and incredibly high, as well as being completely weightless at the top. It will be a fantastic addition to our ride line-up and we can’t wait to see people’s reactions when they experience it for the first time.
