Established in the 20’s by travel industry expert Lyndsey Thomas, Girl About Travel became known as a great place to find new and exciting travel reviews and itineraries in the UK, written by women for women.
In 2024, when Lyndsey needed to focus on her other business interests, Girl About Travel was taken over by Sally Bendall – Girl About Leeds, and re-invented as an online travel magazine.
‘Hi, I’m Sally, the editor-in-chief of Girl About Travel online magazine.
I’m thrilled with this new venture – I’ve enjoyed writing for years, in fact, in one of my very first jobs I created the staff magazine, and I went on to write in-house newsletters while in many of my other roles.
I’ve been writing for Girl About, as Girl About Leeds, and for HN Magazine for a few years now, as a hobby, alongside my full-time role in the IT sector. When the opportunity came up to take over the Girl About Travel website it seemed like a natural next step for me, and to transition the website to an online magazine.
Obviously, I can’t do all this alone, my wonderful husband Mark is my go-to IT helpdesk guru, who has his fair share of travel adventures, usually on two wheels! He’s forever coming back from a cycling race suggesting new destinations for me to explore.
As well as Mark, the backbone, and what makes the Girl About brand so special, is the incredible team of ‘Girl Abouts’ and other contributors across the country who continue to provide you with real-life reviews and experiences from their own corner of the UK.
Each and every contributor adds their own special touch, telling stories and exploring destinations, to bring you all that you need to know when you’re planning your next getaway!
We have a strong presence across social media channels and a 23,000 following on Facebook, where you can keep up with all our adventures as well as on the website. Take all this, plus our new Newsroom section bringing you updates on all the latest travel news and events from travel industry insiders, and you’ve got a fantastic online magazine for a community of travel thirsty women.
