A fabulous start to the festive season

This weekend, we were kindly invited to the opening of Once Upon A Wish’s ‘Enchanted Grotto’ experience, and it’s safe to say that the team have once again created an absolutely magical event that little ones will love.

Located at Sussex Country Gardener in Mark Cross, the immersive Christmas event promises a theatrical adventure which takes ‘little folklings’ through the North Pole. Upon arrival at our allocated time slot, we were taken into the Elf Village with the rest of our small group to meet elves Jovie and Jimbles. Full of charm, beautiful costumes and energetic performances, our daughter was mesmerised from the word go.

With three experiential areas (Elf Village, Toy Workshop and Post Room) to move through, each room hosted a mini show and activities for the children. From making reindeer food to writing a letter to Father Christmas, these interactive elements were engaging and easy to get involved with, following the guidance of the fun and humorous elves.

The attention to detail and production values are second-to-none and, as always, Once Upon A Wish’s characters are outstanding. The journey concludes with a 1:1 meeting with a very authentic Father Christmas in a suitably enchanting setting, and our daughter was given the gift of a lovely, cuddly reindeer named Remi who hasn’t left her side since! We were also given a QR code for an audiobook read by Mrs Claus which was a wonderful way to continue the magic at home.

The whole experience felt nicely paced, well designed and had a really personal touch. We didn’t feel ‘herded’ through to see the big man and the entertainment along the way was so much fun. I’d highly recommend this fabulous festive experience if you have young children!

Tickets to the grotto cost £30 per child (including a reindeer soft toy per child) and £18 per adult. A family ticket (2 adults 2 children) is £70.

REVIEW

This is a Girl About review. I was invited by the management free of charge in exchange for an honest and frank review. All my opinions are my own and in no way have they been swayed by their kind invite. Girl About reviews are always 100% honest. We only publish reviews that, for the most part, are positive.
